keyboard shortcuts<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Misinformation<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/11\/24\/21612728\/facebook-news-feed-us-election-change-mainstream-news-misinformation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Facebook tweaked their algorithm<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> after the US election to prioritise mainstream news sources. <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mashable.com\/article\/twitter-likes-disputed-tweet-labels\/?europe=true&amp;utm_content=buffer7a917&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=buffer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter has started to warn you<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before you like a tweet with a fact check label.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now the US election finally (we think) has a winner, efforts to tackle misinformation are now being focused on the Covid 19 vaccine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is an <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/firstdraftnews.org\/long-form-article\/under-the-surface-covid-19-vaccine-narratives-misinformation-and-data-deficits-on-social-media\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">interesting read on COVID vaccine narratives<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and misinformation in different language communities, from the excellent First Draft News:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ipsos Mori\u2019s recently published <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/ipsos-mori\/en-uk\/ipsos-mori-veracity-index-2020-trust-in-professions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Veracity Index 2020<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> makes for interesting reading and shows what a huge difference there is in the level of trust we have in certain professions &#8211; we\u2019d recommend using it to help inform who your spokespeople should be, both day to day and in a crisis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Social Media and Digital News<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a few early glitches, Fleets, <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.twitter.com\/en_us\/topics\/product\/2020\/introducing-fleets-new-way-to-join-the-conversation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Twitter\u2019s equivalent of Stories<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>,<\/strong> have rolled out to all users this month.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also that time of the year when round-ups start.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">YouTube have announced <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.youtube\/culture-and-trends\/2020-top-trending-youtube-videos-creators\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2020\u2019s top-trending videos and creators<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on their platform.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">TikTok have revealed their <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.tiktok.com\/en-us\/the-year-on-tiktok-top-100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">top 100 of 2020<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This was the most popular video!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On a smaller scale but of note are posts under #TeamHalo and accounts like <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@anna.blakney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dr Anna Blakney<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> working to combat misinformation about Covid-19 vaccines.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LinkedIn have published their<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/linkedin-top-voices-2020-meet-professionals-driving-todays-roth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Top Voices of 2020<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our friends at Empower have put together this list of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/empower.agency\/free-social-media-listening-tools\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">free social media monitoring tools<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We also like<\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.opengraph.xyz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"> this useful tool<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to help you check your social media previews when your content is shared to social platforms and understand how to fix problems.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Crisis Communications\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve used the Gatwick drone crisis as an example in some of our training courses, highlighting some of the things the airport did well in their crisis response.
